Uruguay - Salesian school "Nuestra Señora del Carmen" makes a song and video for peace in Ukraine
Salto, Uruguay - September 2022 - The Salesian school, high school, and pre-university "Nuestra Señora del Carmen," belonging to the Province of Uruguay (URU), and directed by Sarah Ardaix Peirano, wanted to respond to the invitation of the Rector Major and join the Salesian global solidarity campaign. The educational community thus thought of music as a universal language to raise awareness and sought a song for peace to be performed with images of the war. But then the "Don Bosco" band director sat down at the piano and composed music and words out of the blue. As Alejandro Trindade said, "It felt like someone was dictating the lyrics and melody to me." The young people loved it and a music video was made. The city's media echoed and highlighted the song. The youth participated in raffles and sports competitions. A conference for the city's teachers given by an expert on international politics will also be held in October. All initiatives aim to raise awareness, encourage prayer, and, of course, raise funds for those working on behalf of Ukrainian children and youth and their families.
