Brazil - Provincial Council of Recife, Brazil, at Oeiras in Piauí
Oeiras, Brazil – July 2022 – From July 11 to 14, the provincial council of Recife, Brazil met at Oeiras to discern and reflect on the first steps of the new Salesian mission and also evaluate on the contribution being made to the diocese. It was at the request of the current bishop Dom Edilson Soares Nobre that the Salesians started their mission in 2017. The meeting took place at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre and there were ample moments for discussion and interaction with the local Salesian Council, Salesians, Diocesan priests, other organizations and the bishop, and lot of discussions on new collaboration and development were also reviewed. In their evaluation, the Councillors expressed their contentment on the climate of fraternity, the welcome atmosphere and appreciation offered to the Salesians by the Bishop and the diocesan Fathers, the Salesian bonds and their impact and contribution, and the first-hand knowledge of the reality of Oeiras. The Provincial also expressed his joy and satisfaction about the work of the Salesians and thanked them for their witness and hard work.
