Solomon Islands - The hearts of 196 young people illuminated by the Holy Spirit
Tetere, Solomon Islands - June 2022 - "Enlighten our hearts with your Holy Spirit": this was the theme under which 196 young people from "Christ the King" parish in Tetere, Solomon Islands, received the Sacrament of Confirmation last June 5, on Pentecost Sunday. The Sacrament was imparted by Msgr. Christopher Michael Cardone, Archbishop of Honiara; during his homily, he encouraged the young people to be open to the vocation of priesthood and religious life and hoped that some of them may, in the future, become priests and even bishops. The ceremony was accompanied by traditional tunes played on flutes, which helped create an atmosphere of prayer and celebration. The day continued with a festive lunch, prepared by ADMA members, and a series of performances and dances, in a typical Salesian atmosphere of merriment.
