Papua New Guinea - Media formation for Catholic school teachers: "Listen. Do everything with love."
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - March 2022 - In preparation for the annual media education seminars, 16 teachers representing nine Catholic schools in Port Moresby, including two Salesian schools, took part in a media training session on March 18 and 19. The formation was facilitated by the Social Communications Commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (CBC SOCOM) and focused on the theme "Listen. Do everything with love," inspired by Pope Francis' message for World Communications Day and the Rector Major's 2022 Strenna. "True listening is the foundation of all authentic relationships, and it is absolutely necessary with God, as well as with all people," emphasized Fr Ambrose Pereira, SDB, SOCOM Secretary. The program included multimedia sessions for print, audios, videos, photographs, and SOCOM's different programs for students, as well as several hands-on activities that fully involved teachers. There were also times of prayer, game activities, and interaction.
