India - Salesian social development project for farmers in Andaman Islands
Ferrargunj, India - March 29, 2022 - The "Don Bosco Institute of Sustainable and Holistic Advancement" (DISHA), of Ferrargunj, Andaman Islands, has started the construction of a site called "Farmers' Stop", where farmers will be able to sell their products directly, earning more money than selling them through intermediaries. The project, which aims to raise the standard of living of the people involved, is supported by "NABARD'S RURAL HAAT", and is an initiative of the community of "Don Bosco Andaman Ferrargunj", supported by DISHA director, Fr Ferk Simolin, SDB. The blessing ceremony of the foundation stone was presided over by Fr KM Jose, SDB, Provincial of the Madras Province (INM), in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and Mr. Manoj, Director General of the NABARD Regional Office in Port Blair. The Don Bosco Mission in the Andaman Islands this year celebrates 25 years of service to the people through various educational and life guidance activities.
