Honduras - Volunteering for love of the Church and young people
Comayagüela, Honduras - March 2022 – The "Mary Help of Christians" Parish in Comayagüela conducts a Salesian youth volunteer program that keeps its social commitment alive and active. As an act of gratitude to the youth and adults who are part of it, a camp was organized on the theme of the Rector Major's Strenna 2022 "Do all through love, nothing through constraint". The 70 participating volunteers delved into the Strenna 2022, sharing its meaning and appropriating it as a guiding stimulus for their initiatives. They then participated in various activities aimed at strengthening their program, a formative moment led by the director, Fr René Guzmán, SDB, and Víctor Barrios, SDB, and the presentation of a volunteer testimony. The activity coincided with a visit from Fr Ángel Prado, SDB, Provincial of Central America, who left a video message for the participants: "Dear young people, I would like to congratulate you on your willingness to do good and to give all your energy, time and affection to the good of the Church. But remember that you have to do it out of love because you love the Church and the young people you are addressing".
