Spain - Training course in accompaniment for educators and animators
Spain - February 2022 - "The girls and boys we accompany are sacred land," said Alejandro Ortega, a teacher at the "Domingo Savio" Salesian school in Madrid, at the end of the training course in accompaniment (second level), organized by the “St James the Greater” Province (SSM). 35 educators and animators of educational, youth, and social centers participated in this formation, part of the accompaniment plan offered by the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Spain. On 6-7 November 2021, the course’s first appointment, followed by a second on 11-12 December 2021 and, finally, by the latter on 19-20 February 2022, whose training modules focused on discernment, the accompaniment to prayer, and the reference to Jesus. For the participants, it was an opportunity to discover and acquire tools and develop qualities that allow them to accompany the growth of the young people they work with. How to best carry out a dialogue, how to understand the importance of discernment, how to establish a relationship between the companion and the accompanied, the vision of openness to transcendence and prayer, together with the possibility of reviewing one's own history in carrying out the "tasks" accompanying proposals – these were the most appreciated by the participants.
