Dominican Republic - “Youth Prize” dedicated to the late Fr Luis Rosario, SDB

Barahona, Dominican Republic - February 2022 - On 11 February the Salesian community of Barahona celebrated the second edition of the "Provincial Youth Award" in the auditorium of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, on the Barahona campus. This second edition of the award was dedicated to the Salesian Fr Luis Rosario, who passed away on 29 December 2021, for his dedication and commitment throughout his life in favor of Dominican youth. On the occasion, the young people who distinguished themselves in various areas of service in favor of the development of the country were honored, in particular those who left a significant mark through their professions. Among the factors considered for the awards: social service, the promotion of the rights and values of children and adolescents, cultural development, entrepreneurship and sport, ecological preservation, religious leadership, health, art, study and communication. The event was attended by Mr. Rafael Feliz, Minister of Youth, Msgr. Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas, Bishop of Barahona, the mayor of the municipality of Barahona, Mictor Fernández, with various authorities and the young protagonists of the evening.
