Brazil - AMA Project carries out maintenance of water wells in Xavante villages of Campinápolis
Campinápolis, Brazil - December 2021 - Led by Salesian Brother Alois Würstle, the team members of the AMA Project (Ambulant Missionary Assistance) arrived in the municipality of Campinápolis in recent days to carry out the maintenance of the artesian wells of 7 Xavante villages in the area. In this period of the year, rains and thunderstorms are frequent in the region, and lightning very often causes damage to well pumps, leaving communities without drinking water. The waters of the rivers, precisely because of the rains, become muddy and unsuitable for human consumption, putting the health of indigenous populations, especially children, at risk. The AMA Project is a department of the Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso (Province of Brazil-Campo Grande) which aims to provide technical support to the Salesians working in the missions with indigenous populations, in particular with the Xavante and Boe-Bororo ethnic groups.
