Skawa, Poland - October 2021 - The first phase of the "Active Parish" Competition, organized by the Catholic Information Agency, has ended. The organizers have selected 9 communities for the finals, which will compete for the title of "Active Parish 2021". Among these is the Salesian parish "Mary Help of Christians" of Skawa, led by the parish priest Fr Tadeusz Szamara, of the Krakow Province (PLS). The aim of the competition is to promote social activities, protect health and promote an active lifestyle in the parishes during the time of recovery from the pandemic. The project takes place under the honorary patronage of Msgr. Artur Miziński, Secretary General of the Polish Bishops' Conference, and is co-financed by the PZU (Polish Insurance Institute) prevention fund. Until 6 October, the documents concerning the activities of the competing parishes were presented with descriptions and photographs of the activities in the categories: help to others in difficulty, parish groups, sports practice, joint trips, psychological help, health education, charitable help, healthy lifestyle and health prophylaxis. Each activity was evaluated and a score was assigned for each, with the relative ranking.
