Bolivia - Government authorities commemorate 125 years of Salesian presence

13 September 2021

La Paz, Bolivia - September 2021 - In February 1896 the Salesians of Don Bosco arrived on the Bolivian land thanks to an agreement with the government and established a presence on Avenida 16 de Julio, today’s "Prado Paceño", where the “Don Bosco El Prado College” is located. 125 years later, the Salesian house was honored by the representatives of the Ministry of Education, the District Management, the teaching and administrative staff of the College. "Several years after the arrival of the first Salesians in our Bolivia, we can say that Don Bosco’s dream has come true, since we not only have a branch in La Paz, but throughout Bolivia -a dream came true!" were the words of the Director General of the work, Fr Edwin Céspedes Bernal. "Don Bosco El Prado", which initially began as a School of Arts and Crafts, today boasts of, in addition to the Don Bosco College, the Don Bosco Oratory (the first one opened in the country), the Minor Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, and the Alternative Education Center.
