12 November 2020

Avellaneda, Argentina - October 2020 - On 24 October the Don Bosco Festive Oratory of the Salesian House of the Avellaneda Centenary Oratory organized a formative meeting on the theme "Salesian accompaniment of young people in situations of problematic consumption". The proposal was handled by Salesian Brother Guillermo Cejas, member of the "National Salesian Team of Addictions", and with extensive experience in accompanying young people suffering from substance abuse. The space is part of a training course that the oratory's animators are carrying out in this period of virtual meetings, born from the vision of the reality of the children, in their context, and the need to continue to acquire tools to help them. The proposal was also open to the local the SYM and to the animators of some groups of the "Exploradores". During the meeting, the preventive model of the approach was developed, the differences between integral, specific and non-specific prevention, the protective factors, the richness of the preventive system, the educational proposals in leisure time, networking and the centrality of bonds at the time of accompaniment all discussed.
