El Salvador - Salesian Cooperators aspirants and young people help families affected by tropical storm "Amanda"
Acajutla, El Salvador - June 2020 - On the night of May 31, the tropical storm "Amanda" struck El Salvador causing death and destruction. The aspiring Salesian Cooperators of the "Mamma Margherita" community and the members of the "St Giovanni Bosco" youth group of the "San Juan María Vianey" parish, in the city of Acajutla, in the department of Sansonate, have created a collection point for food and basic necessities to distribute to needy families. On June 2, food and clothes were delivered to 150 families in Playa Barra Salada; on June 3, the donations were shared between 95 families of Caserío Las Delicias and to the houses that displayed a white flag (a conventional sign to ask for help from passers-by); on 4 June, aid was delivered to 100 families in the cantons of El Inicio and San Pedro de Acajutla.
