Italy - Colle Val d’Elsa: 17 youths at service of needy
Colle val d’Elsa, Italy - May 2020 – Three weeks ago, the Caritas of Colle val d’Elsa (Siena) began working with the local “Civil Protection” to give support and hope to many poor people. At a later time, 17 young people, animators or friends of the Salesian Oratory of Colle val d’Elsa also arrived, wanting to make themselves useful. Armed with masks, gloves, and disinfectant liquid solutions, keeping the appropriate distances and according to pre-established shifts, they welcome the many donations that arrive from local residents and area supermarkets. They prepare food packages and deliver them. In the next few days, the youths will continue their service independently, without the “Civil Protection”, also thanks to the Universal Civil Service that "Salesians for Social APS" has temporarily allocated to this work during the planning remodulation phase related to the emergency.
