Papua New Guinea - Seminar "Keep it Clean, Go Green"
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - March 2020 - On 6 and 7 March, Fr Ambrore Pereira, SDB, Secretary for Social Communication of the Catholic Episcopal Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, together with his staff, conducted a seminar for animators on the theme "Keep it Clean, Go Green". The meeting was attended by 11 teachers from 9 schools of the Catholic Schools Agency, which also includes Salesian schools. After the opening of Fr Pereira, who invited the participants to reflect on their role as animators, the archbishop of Rabaul, Mgr. Francesco Panfilo, SDB, presented his book "Just Land Agreements", explaining the serious consequences of industrial deforestation in the country and an overview of land deals that do not benefit landowners; and Carol Aigilo, environmental and sustainability expert, who led a session entitled "Care for Creation." Other sessions concerned the radio program for young people "Chatroom", the creation of newsletters and bulletins in schools and video productions.
