Workshops opened in the 1850s

Don Bosco, through his "Salesian workshops," aimed not only to teach a trade, but to foster the social advancement of the students by acquiring a social role. In the decade of 1850 numerous workshops were opened.

St. Francis de Sales and the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary

In 1610, St. Francis de Sales founded the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary in Annecy.

Already on June 4, 1607, St. Francis de Sales had expressed his desire to establish a congregation of women to Jeanne-Françoise Frémyot, Baroness of Chantal (1572-1641), his faithful disciple.

After the shooting at St. Francis Xavier Church in Owo, Nigeria, on Pentecost Sunday, there was a renewed focus on religious freedom and the rights of religious minorities around the world.

Next May 24 will mark the feast day of Mary Help of Christians, an anniversary particularly awaited by Salesians and members of the Salesian Family around the world.
