The Salesian presence in Ukraine

Two years after the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Missionary Bulletin "Cagliero11" has published a forum in which it lists the Ukrainian Salesian presences.

In Ukraine there are about forty Salesians who belong to the Mary Help of Christians Vice-Province of Greek-Catholic Ukraine (UKR), of which Fr Mykhaylo Chaban is Superior, or to the Province of Krakow, Poland (PLS).

The presence of the Sons of Don Bosco concerns the following centres:
• BIBRKA (PLS) – parish;
• DNIPRO (UKR) – humanitarian work and with university students;
• LVIV/LVIV (UKR) and KYIV (UKR) – Salesian presence with university students;
• NOVOSILKA (UKR) – parish and spirituality centre;
• ODESSA (PLS) – parish and elementary school;
• KOROSTYSHIV (PLS) – parish and youth centre;
• PEREMYSHLANY (PLS) – parish and oratory.

In the city of Lviv, Salesian presences are as follows:

  • Lviv Pokrova – Headquarters of the Vice-Province with parish, oratory, school, catechetical groups and students;
  • Lviv Vynnyky – without an official parish, but with leaders and about 40 immigrants from eastern Ukraine;
  • Lviv Philip Rinaldi – Family House with about 60 children in difficulty, Vocational Formation Centre with 200 students, football club with 300 boys;
