The objective of the activity was to share knowledge between high school and university students in the various scientific specialties, through workshops and experiences led by specialists.
The event was organized by the UDB Women's Empowerment Program "PROMUEVE"; its scope, to improve the female condition through education.
The workshops embraced 9 training areas; all were developed by teachers, students of the Salesian University Association and academic collaborators of the University.
In addition, there was also an exhibition of projects by students who are members of the Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the UDB and of the company "AVALON", composed of entrepreneurs linked to the UDB.
The second edition of the UDB Science Challenge saw the participation of about 350 people, all intent on expanding their scientific knowledge in view of a job opportunity or further study in the sector.
The Secretary General of the UDB, Xiomara Martínez Mg., explained: "Our commitment is to operate responsibly and efficiently to create equal opportunities, so that it can be us women who stand out for their intelligence, dedication and honesty, achieving great professional successes. and contributing to the growth, innovation and development of our country."
For its part, Don Bosco University assumes responsibility for facilitating access to higher education for girls and women. Its institutional commitment includes the social empowerment of women and their integration into university faculties through various programs, with special attention to the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Among newly enrolled members of the UDB in 2020, 1,141 were female students and the female population in the Salesian university is 43% of the total, for the first cycle of studies.
The UDB also intends to continue creating more growth opportunities for all women and young people who want to make their way and leave their personal and professional footprint, not only in the field of science, but in all that they propose and dream of.
