The team answers to the needs of street children in situations of crisis and grave danger. With this line, they try to guarantee access to assistance in cases of emergency to every child in India. "Childline" also facilitates the rehabilitation of children, networking with organizations distributed across the country.
Many children also come from other centers that collaborate with "Childline". Some of them, instead, are sent by the "Commission for the Well-being of Children" (CWC), by the police, by the NGOs and by other bodies. Don Bosco Ashalayam provides assistance and immediate protection to these children and also offers them a brief stay, at least until the CWC and the "Childline" team reintegrate the child into their own home.
In recent years, Don Bosco Ashalayam has provided shelter to hundreds of children, has worked so that many have been admitted to schools and they have provided facilities for all those children who are transferred.
The Salesian house of St. John Bosco in New Delhi, in collaboration with "Childline", collaborates with the police, with health care services, with the Juvenile Court, with the transport company, with the media and communication agencies and with local communities. Through this network, the aim is to create awareness on children's rights and, at the same time, to provide child protection services.
With this line, moreover, they also seek to raise awareness about the problems of children and the importance of guaranteeing maximum safety for children.
