The inauguration took place on Saturday morning, September 16, with opening remarks by Fr Vittorio Pisu, the Salesian and parish priest. Then, Dr Jamil Amirian, a psychologist and expert in social programs who followed the work's progress to ensure the facility was tailor-made for its recipients, presented the day center itself. Finally, before blessing the premises, Cardinal Edoardo Menichelli, bishop of Ancona, spoke of the Salesian charism and the centrality of each individual child in the pedagogical vision of Don Bosco.
The center stayed open all day to enable citizens gain first direct knowledge of this new institute, which was made possible thanks to the commitment and support the Salesians of Central Italy, as well as the City of Ancona, Cariverona, Caritas.
The center currently features 350 square meters of classrooms and rooms to accommodate children from 6 to 13 years of age, and is geared to developing educational projects with its highly qualified staff, working in unison with families, schools, social services and the community as a whole, the goal being to safeguard the children's growth and to guarantee their best possible future.
The opening of this new day center is part of the overall design of the Salesian Central Italy Circumscription (ICC) which, with other similar activities, is also present in La Spezia, Genoa, in Rome with "Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco" at the "Sacro Cuore", and in Cagliari's "Don Bosco" center: centers that offer spaces to support people who are struggling, who see their dreams quickly ruined, who risk exclusion because they have stumbled across misfortune, and to those who, for economic or affective reasons, experience and suffer loneliness and abandonment.
