The program's launch took place at the 22nd International Book Fair with the participation of the highest officials of the "Mi Teleférico" State Transport Company, representatives of Bolivia's Library of the Bicentennial, Editorial Don Bosco, the Salesian University of Bolivia, the Choir of the "Domingo Savio" Institute, and high- level guests from the Bolivian literary scene.
In 2012, the President of the Republic of Bolivia, Evo Morales, announced the construction of the cable car in the cities of La Paz and El Alto to help the citizens of the two centers to be transported quickly and serenely from one side of the city to the next, thereby avoiding chaos and road traffic. "The transport system will benefit the poor and people with few resources; above all, it will improve the quality of life of people," the Bolivian authorities said on the occasion.
The project "Reading on the fly: elevate your dreams" was born within this context to encourage readers who using the cable cars for their city commute. The initiative aims to foster the habit of reading among children and young people and to encourage public access to books during travel time from one station to another.
Once inside the cabs, travelers will receive a story written by one of the students at the School of Educational Sciences or by other writers from world literature, and deposit on arriving at their stop.
