In the afternoon session of the second day, 28 December, at which Father Dariusz Wilk, Superior General of the Michaelites presided, Professor Pudumai Doss presented a paper on the theme: "Let not a single one of these little ones be lost"(Mt 18,14). Abuse of minors and canonical procedures."
Starting from the Gospel passage about children (Matthew 18, 1-7,10,14), he focused on offences, especially more serious offences against the sixth commandment reserved to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and especially on: Crimes committed against the sixth commandment with minors under the age of 18; Images of child pornography; Absolution of an accomplice in a sin against the sixth commandment; Solicitation to sin against the sixth commandment with the confessor.
He outlined the process of canonical procedure to be followed in case of a serious crime, which is reserved to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, committed by a religious cleric, and clarified the canonical process for a religious who is not a cleric. Finally, he pointed out "some implications for formation" in the following three areas: the use of psychology in the admission process and formation; homosexuality; the protection of minors in the admission process and in formation.
His presentation was followed by a lively debate among the participants.
In addition to Fr Wilk, other General Councilors of Michaelites were present, including Fr Bogdan Kalisztan, Provincial, and Father Boguslaw Turek, Under-Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
