Pamplona, Spain – March 2025 – Last week, 19 students and 3 teachers from the Salesian House of Pamplona traveled to Paiporta (Valencia) to help renovate four houses, installing new doors, flooring, and kitchen furniture. Their solidarity initiative began right after the Christmas holidays. On December 29, Mikel Artuch, a carpentry teacher at the Salesians of Pamplona, and Alfonso Gordillo, head of the department, visited Paiporta to assess the needs and determine how they could contribute. Upon returning, they proposed the project and got to work.
Students from the second-year Carpentry class were eager to participate. Several companies from the Foral Community contributed materials and funds, while the Salesian Past Pupils Association of Pamplona launched a fundraising campaign to support the initiative. The regional media played a key role in spreading awareness and gathering the necessary resources.
On February 24, the team departed from Pamplona for Paiporta, bringing all the materials and equipment in vans, with great enthusiasm. More than €15,000 was collected for the initiative. During their week in Valencia, the group stayed at the Salesian Environmental School in Godelleta and traveled daily to Paiporta to work tirelessly.
Other Salesian houses have also launched solidarity efforts for areas affected by DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos), a meteorological phenomenon of Isolated Depression at High Altitude that has impacted various regions.
