Philippines - DBFC youth centre hosts a youth vigil
Talisay City, Philippines - January 2025 - To celebrate the feast of St John Bosco every January, leaders of the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) in Lawaan have made it an annual tradition to organise a youth vigil. This event brings together young people from various Salesian schools and backgrounds, promoting unity and offering valuable opportunities for learning and personal growth. This year's youth vigil, held on 25 January, was inspired by the Jubilee theme of ‘being pilgrims of hope’. The event served as a meaningful platform for young people to interact with the speakers, ask questions and gain valuable perspectives, ultimately promoting hope and understanding. Fr Erwin Joey Cabilan, SDB, delivered an opening message and DBYC leaders led some fun moments to encourage participation and enthusiasm. The event received further inspiration with the intervention of the Mayor of Talisay City, Samsam Gullas, and Fr Andrei Ventanilla, President of the Youth Commission of the Archdiocese of Cebu. After a moment of dialogue with the two speakers on the topics they discussed, the young people experienced a few moments of reflection, the participants took part in Eucharistic adoration, led by Fr Vince Michael Sabal, SDB, and finally Fr Andy Mendoza, SDB, gave the Salesian goodnight.
