Organised by the Salesian Cooperators of the Basilica Don Bosco Centre, the event addressed the theme: "Gently share the hope that is in your hearts" (with reference to 1 Pet 3:15 -16), a topic chosen by Pope Francis for his Message for World Communications Day 2025. The meeting brought together the faithful in an atmosphere of deep Salesian spirit and saw a large participation by the local Salesian Family.
The meeting began with a prayer led by Fr David Panezo, SDB, which imbued the atmosphere with spirituality and hope. In his words of welcome he stressed the importance of Saint Francis de Sales as patron of the Salesian Congregation and communicators. The parish priest of the Basilica Don Bosco, Fr Carlos Vilanova, SDB, presented a reflection on the life and legacy of the saint, underlining his gentleness and commitment to the truth.
A special artistic moment was offered by the Orchestra d 'Archi of the "San Cristóbal" Episcopal Institute, which delighted the audience with a musical performance that added a touch of beauty to the event.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of Pope Francis' message for World Communications Day 2025. On the occasion, Eduardo Soto, Director of "Radio Hogar", presented the message, stressing the need for communication based on kindness, respect and hope in an increasingly polarised world.
A round table further explored various aspects of the message, and addressed fundamental issues such as the transmission of hope in the digital age and living the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales in daily life. Moderated by Diomedes Martínez, the round table brought together prominent speakers such as Zailary Chávez, Director of the School of Social Communication at the Santa María la Antigua University (USMA); Adaluz Sanjur, journalist for "FETV"; Carlos Lee, Professor of Law at USMA; and Eduardo Soto himself.
The entire meeting, characterised by the spirit of reflection and Salesian fraternity, left the participants with a clear invitation: to be communicators of hope and truth in all areas of life.
