Fr Dariusz Bartocha was born on 6 March 1965 in Kielce, Poland, and came to know the Salesians in his hometown. He entered the novitiate in Kopiec in 1985, professed his first vows on 30 August 1986, and perpetual vows in Krakow on 1 August 1992. He was then ordained a priest on 11 June 1994, in Krakow.
In the following years (1994-98) he worked in the oratory in Kielce. He then worked at the Salesian Educational and Youth Centre in Krakow for nine years (1998-2007), holding the position of Rector for six years (2000-06). He then served as Vice-Provincial at the Provincial Centre in Krakow for a four-year period (2007-11), and was Rector of the Jagielly community in Oświęcim from 2017 to 2023. Since last September, he was assigned to the Salesian Theological Studentate Seminarium community in Krakow.
He was initially a Councillor (1997-2006) for the Province, then Delegate for Youth Ministry (2005-07), then Vice-Provincial (2007-11), and has already served as Provincial in the six-year period 2011-2017. He currently holds the position of Delegate for Social Communication.
