India - Spiritual Direction Formation for those in charge of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy
Tiruchy, India - November 2024 - The ability to spiritually lead others is a crucial aspect of religious leadership, as well as a disposition of the heart. In response to the growing need for initial and ongoing formation of Salesians, the Salesian Province of Tiruchy, India (INT) conducted a five-day workshop on spiritual leadership, from 19 to 23 November, at the Alaihal-Don Bosco Centre in Manikandam, near Trichy. The programme was led by Fr Sundar Wilson, OFM, a counsellor and psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience, and was attended by 36 Salesians. Each day included four sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. The first two days focused on self-awareness and improving listening skills, and then Fr Wilson introduced many methods and techniques, encouraging participants to practise them diligently for three months before meeting in February for a further training session. The event was attended by the INT Provincial, Fr Agilan Sarprasadam, his Vice-Provincial, Fr Xavier Michael, the Provincial Economer, Fr Amaladoss Sanjone, and leaders from various communities.
