For many young people, understanding the European Union may seem like an abstract matter, with its policies and decision-making processes that seem very far from everyday life. A study visit to Brussels changes this perception, bringing students face-to-face with the EU's most influential institutions. Through engaging presentations, tours and interactive sessions, participants gain first-hand knowledge of how the European Union works, learning directly from the officials involved in the decision-making process. This experience helps students appreciate the meaning of European citizenship and the impact of European policies on their lives and communities.
"We know that organising an educational trip can be challenging" they explain from the DBI. "To make this process as easy as possible, we have created a series of comprehensive guidelines to provide assistance at every stage. From scheduling meetings with MEPs to organising guided tours of institutions such as the European Commission and the European Parliament, these resources are designed to simplify every stage of the planning process. Therefore, any organiser will be able to manage the logistics of the visit."
For Salesian schools and youth organisations, this initiative represents more than just a travel opportunity: it is an opportunity to promote a closer link with Europe, giving young people the knowledge and inspiration to become informed and engaged European citizens. By bringing students closer to the EU, it aims to build a stronger sense of community and a shared purpose, creating a lasting impact that goes beyond the walls of a classroom.
"If you are ready to embark on this journey" they continue from the DBI, "we invite you to explore our complete set of planning guidelines. Together, we create an experience that will leave a lasting impression on our young people and inspire them to play an active role in the future of Europe."
