(ANS – Turin) – Again this year, on 14 September, on the occasion of the liturgical feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the day of the Opening of the Crypt, the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Turin hosted an evening dedicated to the Shroud, as part of the "Culture in the Basilica" exhibition, entitled "The Shroud: witness of great love".

After the presentation of Fr Michele Viviano, rector of the Basilica, the greeting of the parish priest of the Cathedral that conserves the Shroud, Fr Silvio Cora, and the introduction of Prof. Emanuela Marinelli, two speakers of the evening were:Father Rafael Pascual, professor of Philosophy at the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum in Rome and Director of the "Othonia" project of studies on the Holy Shroud, on "The Shroud and the Gospels"; and Dr Franco Serafini, cardiologist from Bologna, who spoke about "The Shroud and Eucharistic miracles".

The evening concluded with a reflection by Prof. Bruno Barberis, Head of the Biblical Apostolate Sector of the Diocesan Catechetical Office of Turin for twenty years and currently a member of the Pastoral Commission of the Diocesan Liturgical Office and the Consultation for School Pastoral Care.

A large and interested audience filled the Basilica and, at the end, had the opportunity to visit the Chapel of Relics, exactly 90 years after its opening on 14 September 1934 – 2024. It preserves numerous relics, including a fragment of the cross of Christ (17x10 cm).

An exhibition on the Shroud and one on the Eucharistic miracles, both gifts from the Carlo Acutis Foundation, will be on display in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians until the end of September.
