The event was attended by students from the Don Bosco Centre in San Juan Chamelco, the Don Bosco Centre in Raxruhá and the Don Bosco Centre in San Pedro Carchá.
Artistic presentations were held during the first day, which represented the Salesian spirit and Christian devotion, reviving the faith of those present. Friends and benefactors of the Centre were also present, having contributed significantly to the development and sustainability of this work. One of the highlights was the ensemble of musical bands, which brought together the young people from the 3 Salesian centres in a wonderful performance. This performance excited not only the participants, but also those who followed the event on social media. In addition, a solemn Eucharist was celebrated, considered the heart of the feast. In the afternoon, more than 2,500 students took part in a 12-kilometre race, which marked the end of the first day of celebrations.
The following day there was a walk in the city of San Pedro Carchá, where the students of the Don Bosco centres showed their joy and enthusiasm in pure Salesian style, through various presentations, performances by stilt walkers, clown shows and demonstrations of products made in the workshops of carpentry, welding, repair and computer maintenance.
The highlight of this activity was when the mayor of San Pedro Carchá, Erwin Alfonso Catún, and his City Council, paid tribute to Fr Anthony de Groot, naming the main street in the centre of the city (5th street) as "Calle Padre Antonio de Groot", in recognition of his dedication and service to young people in rural and marginalised areas of the region.
Thus ended the celebration of the anniversary of the Don Bosco Centre, recalling that, in the midst of adversity, Fr Anthony de Groot founded the Don Bosco Raxruhá Centre with 15 students, an institution that today has 3,000 students in its 3 colleges and has educated thousands of children and young people throughout its existence.
