The Province of Bogotá has had a Salesian presence for more than 125 years. It directly serves more than 50,000 people in 51 works, including schools, technical schools, training centres, parishes, oratories and youth centres located in 12 cities and 6 departments.
At the closing meeting of the Extraordinary Visitation, a total of 90 Salesians were present, including the Provincial Council, the Rectors of the local communities and the Salesians of the Provincial House. Fr González presented his vision of the COB province, under three key words: obedience, conversion and hope.
One of the main topics was "belonging to God", i.e. the consecrated Salesian is called to put God first, to be a man of God. The second point was about ''belonging more to the confreres" in awareness that the Salesian Congregation is a spiritual and apostolic family; and finally "belonging more to young people." The Councillor also mentioned that the Salesians have a project of life given by the Constitutions: the mission is entrusted to the province and to the community. Finally, he thanked everyone for the trust shown and for the open, serene and simple family environment that he found during his visit.
During the celebration of the Eucharist he gave every Salesian the cross of perpetual profession as a sign of fidelity to the vocation and the apostolic project of Don Bosco. This marked the solemn conclusion of the Extraordinary Visitation.
