Ecuador – 32 lay people from the Province of Ecuador participate in a unique formation program in Salesianity
Quito, Ecuador – June 2024 - On Sunday 16 June, 32 lay people from the Salesian communities and works in the Province of Ecuador (ECU) began the study programme called "Salesian Intensive" at the Salesian Ongoing Formation Centre America (CSFPA), located in Quito. For the first time this formation proposal brings together participants from a single Province. This program that will end next Friday, 28 June, reflects the importance of the formation of the laity for the Province of Ecuador, and aims to strengthen charismatic identity in the educative and pastoral mission of communities and works. To achieve this goal, the contribution of the CSFPA is fundamental. The program is a summary of the three-year course in Salesianity that is usually carried out, with the aim of offering lay people who carry out different pastoral and management responsibilities, an intense formation on the Salesian charism according to a methodology that combines three keys: historical, experiential and sharing. One of the characteristics of these meetings is that the study and appropriation of the charism takes place in an environment that fosters fraternity and shared living, creating an encounter among people in the light of Don Bosco. In the same way, the spiritual aspect has an important component in the morning lectio divina and in the afternoon Eucharistic celebrations, where thanks are given for the teachings and experiences of each day. This study programme, which has the academic patronage of the Salesian Polytechnic University (UPS), will culminate with a spiritual retreat on Friday, thus closing a phase of deep formation and community enrichment.
