07 June 2024

Cartago, Costa Rica – June 2024 – The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), participated in a day of spirituality, together with the Youth Ministry in the Province of Central America (CAM), to welcome the relic of the future saint, Blessed Carlo Acutis. On Sunday 2 June, the Santiago Cathedral in the heart of Cartago, became the starting point of the activity. The day began with the rosary in honour of national and world youth. More than 800 young people, from every corner of the diocese of Cartago, including the Salesian Youth Movement, joined the pilgrimage to the Maria Goretti parish in La Pitahaya. Among songs, praises and dances, the walk, in which several congregations, the community of La Pitahaya and the parishioners participated, has become a truly unforgettable experience. At the end of the journey, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated, presided over by the bishop of Carthage, Bishop Mario Quirós. After the Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament took place, led by the national Youth Ministry, Fr Rodrigo Muñoz, and accompanied by the Hakuna Group Music group, filling all the youth communities present with love for God. The youth Hakuna Group then played their own songs and the young people joined together singing, laughing, dancing and jumping, inspired by the example of Carlo Acutis. The relic in Costa Rica is of the first degree "Ex Capillis" and contains a hair of Carlo Acutis.
