With the establishment of the Foundation, the Salesians re-affirm their desire to support the "service of Vocational Training, education, instruction and, more generally, cultural activities of social interest for educational purposes, also pursued by promoting collaborative relationships on an ongoing basis with business and non-profit entities" as stated in Article 3 of the Statutes.
The Foundation will be led by the Salesians indicated by the promoting body CNOS (National Centre for Salesian Works) and operating throughout the national territory.
The Foundation today operates, with its 63 Vocational Training Centres, in 16 Italian Regions, training more than 25,000 students, of whom 16,000 are young people who fulfil their right and duty to education and training. With over 1,500 courses and over 850,000 hours of training provided annually, it covers the agriculture, manufacturing and advanced tertiary sectors. And to facilitate job placement, it has recently activated 40 so-called "SAL" (Workplace Services) branches.
The Foundation, which has inherited the strengths of the Federation, can boast a figure of 92% of students who, one year after obtaining their professional qualification or diploma, are in "educational success".
Faithful to the spirit of the founder, the Salesians today repeat what the Salesians had written – with a programmatic expression – after the death of Don Bosco: to work in every historical period "with the times and with Don Bosco".
