Canada - Quebec Salesian Family Day
Sherbrooke, Canada – April 2024 - On Saturday, 13 April, approximately 50 members of the Salesian Family of Quebec met at the Dominic Savio camp on the shores of Lake Magog, near the city of Sherbrooke, to celebrate Salesian Family Day. The day began with the welcome of the organisers and Sister Alphonsine Roy, Delegate for the Salesian Family in Canada, and the opening prayer by Sister Lise Guitard, FMA. Subsequently, Fr Richard Authier, SDB, Delegate for the Salesian Cooperators at the Mary Help of Christians centre in Montreal, presented the main lines of the Rector Major's Strenna 2024. Two testimonies of young people about happiness, their dreams, their values and the place of Jesus and faith in their lives were presented in videos. Subsequently, the Sherbrooke community, through Fr Alain Léonard, presented the video testimony of the young people who participated in a missionary experience in Mexico and Fr Pierre Célestin Ona Zue, that of the young people who did the same in Cameroon. At the end, a discussion ensured on how Don Bosco's dream is realised today. Pierre Larocque, ASC, responsible for the formation of the local Sainte-Claire Centre and regional secretary of the Interamerica region, presented the path towards the 150th anniversary of the Association of Salesian Cooperators and the various activities carried out to date.
