United States – The Provincial Chapter of the Salesians in the Eastern United States and Canada
Tampa, United States – April 2024 – The Provincial Chapter of the Salesians in the Eastern United States and Canada took place during Easter Week at the Mary Help of Christians Centre in Tampa, Florida. Thirty-five members of the SUE Province, from both the United States and Canada, took part in the Chapter. Bishop Robert Nugent Lynch, bishop emeritus of St Petersburg (Florida), led the retreat and presided at Mass on the opening day of the Chapter. The next day, the FMA and the Salesian Cooperators were invited to take part in the discussions regarding the laity working alongside the Salesians. Province Day was celebrated at the end of the Chapter, which began with Mass and continued with moments of recollection and fraternity. Finally, as a sign of gratitude, Fr Dominic Tran, Superior of the Salesian Province of the Eastern United States and Canada (SUE), rewarded Mrs Mary Sverko for her dedication to Mary Help Tampa and to the Salesian mission. Mrs Sverko not only takes care of rentals at the place, but manages the St Philip residence at Mary Help Tampa, for elderly Salesians.
