Guatemala – Start of the Extraordinary Visitation to the Salesian Divin Salvatore Province of Central America

27 February 2024

Guatemala City, Guatemala - February 2024 - 23 February marked the beginning of the Extraordinary Visitation to the Salesian Divin Salvatore Province of Central America (CAM) conducted on behalf of the Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, by Fr Walter Jara. The main objective of the visitation is to get to know, value, encourage and accompany the different Salesian communities in the Province. It seeks to return to the spirit and guidelines of the document of the 28th General Chapter, promoting a discernment that allows the Sons of Don Bosco to rediscover the type of Salesians they want to be for the young people of Central America. It is also intended to intensify the communion of each community and the provincial community with the journey of the Salesian Congregation. Part of the objectives also include the evaluation of progress with respect to the conclusions of the last Extraordinary Visitation. The first day began with the meeting with the Provincial Council, led by the CAM Provincial, Fr Julio Navarro, and, in the following days, Fr Jara began to meet the various people responsible and teams in charge of the animation and governance of the Province. This visitation is scheduled to close on 27 May in San Salvador, coinciding with the beginning of the Provincial Chapter.
