Shillong, India – February 2024 – The annual meeting of School Principals in Shillong, which took place from 5 to 7 February at the Don Bosco school in Agartala, involving 40 participants from Salesian schools in the Indian states of Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Silchar, recently concluded. The event was also attended by the Superior of the Province of India-Shillong, Fr Paul O. Lyngkot, the appointed Provincial and current Vice-Provincial, Fr John Zosiama, the Provincial Economer, Fr James Thyrniang, other members of the Council and two Sisters of the Visitation of Don Bosco (VSDB) from the small town of Bishramganj. The meeting opened with an address by Fr Babu Stephen, Head of Education and Culture in Shillong Province, who welcomed all the participants and thanked them for their presence. In the following days, thanks to a long and well-developed series of talks and sessions, there was discussion of the difficulties that today's young people face and how to make them better able to manage these challenges. Much room was then dedicated to accounting and the need for proper documentation. Of great interest was the session led by Fr Michael Makri, Director of the Don Bosco Media Network, focused on social media, artificial intelligence and the use of ChatGPT in schools. The importance of celebrating Salesian Mission Day in all schools and parishes, every 11th of the month, and of disseminating the missionary animation bulletin "Cagliero11" was also stressed. The event then ended on the afternoon of 7 February, with a thank you to the Agartala community for hosting this event and contributing to its great success.
