United States - Salesian Cooperators from Cuba meet in Miami
Miami, United States – January 2024 - On Sunday, 28 January, in view of the feast of Don Bosco, 14 Salesian Cuban cooperators residing in Miami met for the first time, belonging to the local centres of Santa Clara, Camagüey and Havana. The meeting took place at the house of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in Miami, Florida. The day began with the Eucharist, then they shared food, anecdotes, songs and laughter, all in a fraternal atmosphere, with the joy of meeting up again after so many years. Young people gathered with them, many of whom were born in the United States. For them it was the first Salesian meeting, as well as for other people who were part of the Salesian communities in Cuba, all accompanied by their families. Many of these Salesian Cooperators have been living in Miami for years, from where they support the Association in Cuba. More than 50 Salesian Cooperators live outside Cuba; about 80 ASC are active on the island in the different local centres. The experience of seeing each other again and sharing the Salesian vocation has been so uplifting that they already plan to meet in May on the occasion of the feast of Mary Help of Christians. The meeting was organised by Alejandro Satorre.
