Fr Ivančević was born on 25 October 1962 in Slimac, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He made his novitiate at the Podsused Salesian house, in Zagreb, Croatia, between 1990 and 1991, and made his first religious profession on 15 August 1991 and his perpetual profession on 8 September 1997, also in Zagreb.
After his priestly ordination, which took place in the same city on 27 June 1998, he spent his first pastoral experiences in the communities in Žepče, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the formation house in Podsused.
He completed his studies at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS), in Rome, and then from 2006-2015 he was Rector of the Podsused community, and from 2015 to 2021, Rector of the Žepče community.
Currently, starting in 2021, he is Rector of the Mary Help of Christians community in Split, also parish priest there since 2022.
Fr Ivančević also held various positions at the Provincial level: he was a Councillor for the six-year period 2006-2012; Delegate for Formation from 2006 to 2015; Vice-Provincial in the six-year period 2012-2018; and for a three-year period once again Councillor and Delegate for the Salesian Family.
Fr Ivančević will take over as Provincial in May next year, succeeding Fr Tihomir Šutalo, who has been in office since 2018, becoming responsible for a Province that has 108 religious and 10 communities.
