With regard to the appointments of Superiors, Cardinal Á.F. Artime and the other members of the General Council have already identified the Provincials of Slovenia, Malta, India-Shillong, India-Guwahati and Croatia. In the coming days, Superiors of other circumscriptions will be appointed: Africa Great Lakes, China, Japan, Indonesia, Northeast Italy and the Middle East.
In addition, the reports on the Extraordinary Visitations relating to the Salesian circumscriptions, are being listened to and discussed:
– Mexico-Guadalajara, by Fr Gabriel Romero, Councillor for the America South Cone Region;
– Paraguay, by Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region;
– Sri Lanka, by Fr Biju Michael, Councillor for the South Asia Region;
– Myanmar, by Fr Joseph Nguyen Thinh Phuoc, Councillor for the East Asia-Oceania Region;
– China, also by Fr Phuoc;
– Slovenia, by Fr Roman Jachimowicz, Councillor for the Central and North Europe Region;
– Great Britain, also by Fr Jachimowicz;
– Croatia, also by Fr Jachimowicz;
– Central Africa, by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region;
– India-Panjim, by Fr Gianni Rolandi as Extraordinary Visitor;
– and Indonesia, also by Fr Gianni Rolandi.
Among the other issues to be addressed are, first, the work of the General Council on preparing the reflection to be delivered to the Provincial Chapters in preparation for the 29th General Chapter; then the study of the Ratio Fundamentalis in view of approving its updating; and several other technical, economic and pastoral issues.
The work will also include preparation for the last of the Team Visits yet to be carried out: East Asia-Oceania, in February 2024, in Vietnam; Africa-Madagascar, in February, in Rwanda; and Mary Seat of Wisdom Vice-Province of the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome, in July.
As usual, within the winter plenary session, a festive moment of Salesian joy is also scheduled – the Salesian Family Spirituality Days to be held this year from 18 to 21 January.
