RMG – Appointment of the Superior of Slovenia Province

(ANS – RMG) – During the winter session of the General Council on 6 December, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, with the consent of the members of his Council, appointed Fr Peter Končanas Superior of the Salesian Province of Slovenia (SLO) for the six-year period 2024-2030.

Born on 30 May 1974 in Ljubljana (Slovenia) he did his novitiate at Pinerolo – Monteoliveto and made his first profession on 8 September 1993 and his perpetual profession on 8 September 1999 in Ljubljana. He studied theology at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and was ordained a priest on 29 June 2001 in Ljubljana.

Fr Peter Končan is currently Rector of the Provincial Community in Ljubljna – Rakovnik, is Vice-Provincial for the second three year period and Provincial Delegate for Formation.

The current Provincial of Slovenia, Fr Marko Košnik, will conclude his mandate on 24 May 2024.
