Mandaluyong City, The Philippines – November 2023 – 11 November has an important meaning for the Salesian Congregation. In fact, it marks the day on which, 148 years ago, the Salesians sent missionaries into the world for the first time, with Argentina as their destination. This historic date was commemorated by the Northern Philippines Province (FIN). On 11 November it celebrated Salesian Missionary Day 2023 with the theme: "CARE OF CREATION - Our mission". The event took place at the Roderick Flores Hall in the Don Bosco Technical Institute Mandaluyong City, in the presence of the Rector, Fr Ronilo Basilio Javines, and the Provincial Delegate for Missionary Animation, Fr Dennis Silvestre Casaclang. The day represented a crucial moment for highlighting sustained efforts to address the ecological emergency and to instil in educators an awareness of their role in promoting holistic human development, integral ecological consciousness and social transformation. Best practices in reducing the carbon footprint, mitigating the impact of climate change and assisting victims of ecological disasters were also highlighted. The event finally concluded with an address by Fr Gerardo Martin, FIN Provincial.
