The ordination was presided over by the ordinary of the archdiocese of Cordoba, Cardinal Ángel Sixto Rossi, who played the role of main consecrator; he was joined as co-consecrators by Archbishop Carlos José Ñáñez, Archbishop emeritus of the archdiocese; Archbishop José María Arancibia, Archbishop emeritus of Mendoza; Bishop Esteban María Laxague SDB, Bishop of Viedma; and Bishop Juan Carlos Romanín, SDB, Bishop emeritus of Río Gallegos.
As an episcopal motto, Bishop Álvarez, titular bishop of Cubda, chose: "He must grow"; while Bishop Musolino, who has been assigned as titular of the diocese of Ruspe, chose "That they may have life".
During the homily, Cardinal Rossi invited the new bishops to be "bishops in the synodal spirit" and to walk with the Lord in the intimacy of prayer, where they can always speak to him as friends. He also encouraged them to work together with priests, deacons, men and women religious, consecrated men and women, catechists and all pastoral workers with whom they share the precious and demanding task of evangelisation.
At the end of the celebration, the new bishops expressed their gratitude to the community for the support and prayers. Bishop Alejandro Musolino SDB, in his message, thanked God for the gift received and expressed the desire that He make all things new.
"The ordination of Bishop Alejandro Musolino, SDB, and Bishp Horacio Álvarez as auxiliary bishops represents a moment of great joy for the Church of Cordoba and for the entire Salesian community. The Salesian Family joins in prayer to accompany Don Alejandro on his new journey and mission, trusting that he will carry out his task with dedication and love for the faith", commented the Salesians of Cordoba, confreres of the new bishop.
