Argentina – The Past Pupils of Don Bosco America Congress
Cordoba, Argentina – October 2023 – Under the motto "Discerning the times and bearing witness to our social commitment", the Past Pupils of Don Bosco America Congress began on 19 October, organised in the city of Cordoba by the Argentine National Federation of Past Pupils, in collaboration with the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco. The Congress focused on the theme of synodality and how Past Pupils can be agents of social transformation in the Americas, and saw the participation of Presidents, Delegates and Past Pupils from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and the United States. Also present for the occasion were Eduardo Pessoa Cavalcante, Vice-President of the World Confederation and Councillor for the Americas; Carlos Marquina, Regional Councillor for America for Young Past Pupils (GEX); Valerio Martorana, Councillor for Europe and the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco; Bro. Dominic Duc Nam Nguyen, SDB, World Delegate for Past Pupils of the Salesians of Don Bosco; Fr. Joan Lluís Playà, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat for the Salesian Family; and Mr. Peter Kováč, SDB, Secretary General of the Confederation. There were four days of dialogue, listening and reflection, which also offered the opportunity to present proposals and projects for the Region and to plan the next meetings, establishing priorities for future years.
