The complex in which the meetings are held also houses the Salesian Novitiate of the 'San Luiz Gonzaga' (of the Province of Brazil-Recife -BRE) and is therefore affectionately called 'Salesian Bethlehem' by BRE Provincial Fr Francisco Inácio.
According to the President of the Conference of the Salesian Provinces of Don Bosco in Brazil (CISBRASIL), Fr Ricardo Carlos, Provincial of Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG), the central theme of the meeting is the interregional and interprovincial work of the Salesians in the Region. "The conclusions of the Team Visit that took place last March (2023) in Buenos Aires (ARG) will also be presented and evaluated," he specified.
Another topic on the agenda is also the theme of the next General Chapter of the Congregation, GC29 - "PASSIONATE FOR JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE: For a faithful and prophetic lived experience of our Salesian vocation". The Chapter meeting will also elect the successor to the current Rector Major of the Congregation, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, created cardinal by Pope Francis.
In addition to the sessions, the Provincials also have the opportunity to celebrate Mass with the community of the local Novitiate and have moments of common prayer in the chapel dedicated to St Artemis Zatti. "We thank the Province of BRE for welcoming us and for allowing us to get to know the reality of north-east Brazil," Fr Carlos concludes.
