Bolivia - National meeting of young Salesian leaders
Cochabamba, Bolivia - September 2023 - The National Meeting of Salesian Young Leaders was held from 15 to 17 September, in order to appreciate the commitment that being a young Salesian leader entails,by assuming the responsibility of being leaven in the human family, in the educational community and in society. The event took place in the facilities of the Don Bosco school in Quintanilla and was organised by the Don Bosco Popular Schools (EPDB in Spanish) under the motto "We will call ourselves Salesians" and the biblical quotation from St John's Gospel "And they stayed with him". The meeting was attended by more than 1,200 young people from different educational units throughout the country that are members of the EPDB agreement. Bishop Fernando Bascopé Müller, SDB, Bishop of the Diocese of San Ignacio de Velasco; Father Justiniano Flores, Superior of the Salesian Province of Bolivia; Father Henry Córdova Baldelomar, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry; and various members of the Salesian Family who addressed the young people with words of animation, motivation and reflection on Salesian leadership. The event was developed in the context of a process of ongoing formation that all the young representatives of the course are involved in, together with some teachers and national and regional EPDB technicians. This process is supported by the Salesian Jugendhilfe Weltweit NGO, Switzerland, through the BOL 19-061 project entitled: "Leadership training and resilience building as a component of entrepreneurial attitude in young students of Don Bosco Popular Schools". At the end of the meeting, Father Alexander Sosa Vaca, National Director of the EPDBs, spoke to the young leaedrs, thanking them and congratulating them on their willingness and commitment to participate in the training course.
