Santiago de Chile, Chile - September 2023 - On 5 September, the Provincial Delegates for Social Communication of the Americas met virtually. These meetings are necessary to maintain the synergy of the continent's network: in this space, delegates present their main achievements and challenges and share a moment with the family. Nineteen provinces from all over the continent were present. At the opening, Fr. Gildasio Mendes, General Councillor for Social Communication, offered his message: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the great responsibility and maturity of all of you as members of our communication network in America. Every day we grow, learn more and fulfil our mission as communicators with a great Salesian spirit. To each of you, a heartfelt thank you from the Communications Sector of the Congregation". He added: "There is the ability to work together and we do so together. This American team works in deep synergy with the social communication department." Although the meeting was brief, there was a presentation of each province to learn about its current situation, and the importance of developing provincial social communication plans based on the America provincial communication plan was discussed. This small virtual meeting is a prelude to participation in the World Congress on Social Communication to be held in August 2024 at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome, Italy.
