RMG – Extended deadline for the delivery of projects for the logo of the 150th anniversary of the Salesian Missions

07 September 2023

(ANS – Rome) – As part of the preparation for the 150th anniversary of the first missionary expedition, which will take place in 2025, the Salesian Missions Sector has launched a competition for the creation of a logo to be used for all the initiatives that will take place in this regard.

The delivery of the project was extended until 11 November, the day on which, in 1875, the first group of missionaries left; a departure that is repeated every year and that has allowed the Salesian charism to expand throughout the world. In fact, we are preparing for the 154th Salesian Missionary Expedition, with the new missionaries who will receive the missionary cross at the hands of the Rector Major in Valdocco on 24 September.

All Provinces can participate in the competition through their DIAM (Missions Delegate), in collaboration with the Delegate for Social Communication and competent lay people and graphic designers. The chosen theme is: Thank, Rethink, Relaunch. The winner will be chosen by the Rector Major and will be announced in December 2023.

The logo must express the sense of unity of the entire Salesian Congregation and the dynamic drive towards the growth of the missionary spirit, taking into account the three verbs expressed in the motto. The number "150" must also be highlighted.

In the pdf file at the bottom of the page you can find all the specifications for the creation of the logo, which provides a prize of €1,875, a symbolic figure that recalls the year of the first Salesian missionary expedition.
