Duaca, Venezuela - September 2023 - Fr Rafael Montenegro, Superior of the Salesian St Luke Province, Venezuela (VEN), presided over the concluding act of the pastoral and educational year at the Dominic Savio youth centre in Duaca. Addressing the young people, he invited them to remain faithful to the Salesian charism and to the hope that does not disappoint. The month of August is one of the most important periods for the young leaders and educators in the oratories and youth centres, as together with the Salesians and members of the Salesian Family they promote summer activities. This year, more than seven thousand children, adolescents and young people gathered in the various Salesian presences in the country assisted by 1,400 leaders, to benefit from the educational, pastoral and evangelising activities organised by the VEN Province through the Salesian Youth Ministry's 'Oratorio in Vacanza' (OVAS or Oratory during the holidays) programme.
